Those of us working here at CFC often find ourselves saying that we have the best job in the world – helping deserving people build families. But nothing we do would be possible without the help of some amazing women. We know that our gestational surrogates represent the best of the best, exhibiting qualities that include compassion, empathy, and a real desire to help others and give back.
Today we want to introduce you to one of these women; Lisa.
Lisa is a married mom of three kids, hailing from Maryland. She is currently wrapping up Journey #2, carrying a sibling for the same Intended Parents she carried for in the past – a fantastic gay couple that was a perfect fit for Lisa and her family.
At 38 weeks and counting, Lisa is getting excited to welcome this little bundle to the world and to give the ultimate gift to another family!
We asked Lisa some questions about her experience, and here is what she had to say:
What led you to surrogacy?
The idea of surrogacy has always been a part of me. After watching friends and family go through infertility I knew surrogacy was something I wanted to pursue.
How did you choose CFC as your agency?
I liked the idea of working with an agency close to me. I then researched agencies and read every review I could find. I asked questions to other surrogates who had worked with CFC. After talking with representatives with CFC I knew it was a good fit.
What was the matching and screening process like?
As soon as my husband and I meet with our IFs we knew it was a great fit. They were so warm, kind, and easy to speak with. We shared all the important views and expectations going into the surrogacy. CFC made sure we spoke openly about these things to ensure we all felt comfortable. They also led us through the screening each step of the way.
What has this pregnancy been like?
This is journey two for the same couple. The first was a nice, uneventful pregnancy. The dads were able to be there for the birth which was so wonderful. So far (38 weeks!) This pregnancy has been going well. We are getting excited as the due date gets closer.
What was it like seeing the Dads hold their baby for the first time?
Seeing my IFs become dads is one of the best, most heartwarming experiences of my life. It was such a joy and honor to be a part of someone else’s journey to parenthood. To see them look into their child’s eyes is a moment I will never forget.
What can you tell other women considering a surrogacy journey with CFC?
Becoming a surrogate has been such a rewarding experience. It is a journey not just for me , but my husband and children as well. We’ve shared in the love and excitement of growing a family. I enjoyed working with CFC – they were always there to support me, answer questions, and check in to make sure I was doing well!
Lisa, we are so thankful that women like you exist to help bring joy to other people. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU! xo
